About This Dog for Adoption

Onyx's ideal home

Onyx is looking for a cat free home where any children are over the age of 12. He could share his home with a suitably matched dog following a successful meet here at the centre. Onyx is house trained but will need somebody at home for most of the day as struggles being left alone. He is worried by loud noises and busy traffic so would love for his new home to be somewhere fairly quiet, away from any busy roads.

Could you be Onyx's perfect match?

Onyx is a very sweet boy who has been finding kennel life very upsetting. In his kennel he is quite vocal and will keep look out for his handlers. Once he is out and about he is much less stressed and enjoys walking nicely on his lead, exploring calm areas and greeting people with a waggy tail. Onyx has been sharing his kennel here with another dog and we believe that she has helped to reduce his kennel stress a little, so he would benefit from living with another provided that they are calm and friendly. He has not been so keen to play with toys at present and has lost his appetite due to the stressful changes he is experiencing at the moment, but we expect that this will change once he is happy and settled with his new family. Onyx is used to the car and travels well so would love an active family who can take him out to adventure in new and quiet places.

Labrador Buying Checklist

We highly recommend every buyer reads through the below advice when purchasing or rehoming a Labrador Retriever.

  • View the animal in the place it was born and raised - check for genuine home environments if buying privately, or the quality of the breeders set-up if applicable.
  • If viewing a puppy under 8 weeks, by law they MUST be seen with their mum.
  • Make sure the animal's old enough to be rehomed. 8 weeks should be the earliest a puppy can be rehomed.
  • By law, all dogs MUST be microchipped
  • Review and verify any documents, such as KC registration paperwork where applicable

Avoid Potential Scams

There are a number of red flags to look out for when purchasing a new puppy:

  • Seller demands a deposit without allowing you to see the dog first - never send any money before meeting the animal in person
  • Seller is reluctant to send you additional photos or videos
  • Seller offers to deliver the dog/puppy
  • Seller asks to meet in a mutual location
  • Seller uses fake or stolen photos from the internet. Always carry out a "Google image search".
  • Seller asks to immediately switch to communication off the Labrador Owners website
  • Seller uses a different phone number to the one listed on the website - especially if that phone number is in one of the advert images

Although we have a number of automated systems in place to prevent scam and fraudulant adverts, these can never be 100% accurate and its important to use caution when buying online. We do not accept any responsibility for transactions between our users, especially when our safe buying advice is not followed.
