About This Dog for Adoption

Hugo's ideal home

Hugo is a 10-year-old Labrador Retriever with a heart full of love and a gentle, charming personality. This golden oldie finds joy in the simple things—playtime, meals, and companionship—and is ready to share his love with a family of his own. A retired explorer with plenty of energy, Hugo enjoys a secure, private garden (fenced to at least 4 feet) where he can safely explore, sniff, and relax.

Hugo thrives in a calm, structured environment with owners who can dedicate time to his care and companionship. He is suitable for first-time owners who have done their research and are ready to provide the love and attention he deserves. Hugo can potentially live with secondary school-aged children who are comfortable being around dogs and respectful of his space.

While Hugo would be happy as the only pet, he could also live with another sociable dog of a similar temperament after proper introductions.

Could you be Hugo's perfect match?

Hugo is a bright, affectionate, and playful boy who thrives on mental stimulation and social interaction. His foster carers describe him as a loving companion with a playful spirit, always eager to explore and make the most of his golden years. He is well-behaved on the lead, walking calmly without pulling, and loves a good sniff in grassy areas or a quiet stroll in the park.

Hugo is social, friendly, and inquisitive around other dogs he meets, enjoying polite interactions during his walks. A big fan of toys, Hugo especially loves squeaky bones and interactive games. He’s happiest when playing, chewing on his favourite toy, or snuggling with his family.

Hugo is fully housetrained, predictable with toileting, and quick to settle at night. He travels well and quickly settles once in the car, although he may need a bit of assistance getting in, either by being lifted or using a ramp.

Hugo is currently following a managed diet to reach his ideal weight and enjoys his meals with enthusiasm, making it an easy process to maintain.

Hugo bonds deeply with his caregivers and prefers not to be left alone for long periods. With gradual training, he can be left for 2–4 hours and will reward his family with unconditional love and loyalty.

Labrador Buying Checklist

We highly recommend every buyer reads through the below advice when purchasing or rehoming a Labrador Retriever.

  • View the animal in the place it was born and raised - check for genuine home environments if buying privately, or the quality of the breeders set-up if applicable.
  • If viewing a puppy under 8 weeks, by law they MUST be seen with their mum.
  • Make sure the animal's old enough to be rehomed. 8 weeks should be the earliest a puppy can be rehomed.
  • By law, all dogs MUST be microchipped
  • Review and verify any documents, such as KC registration paperwork where applicable

Avoid Potential Scams

There are a number of red flags to look out for when purchasing a new puppy:

  • Seller demands a deposit without allowing you to see the dog first - never send any money before meeting the animal in person
  • Seller is reluctant to send you additional photos or videos
  • Seller offers to deliver the dog/puppy
  • Seller asks to meet in a mutual location
  • Seller uses fake or stolen photos from the internet. Always carry out a "Google image search".
  • Seller asks to immediately switch to communication off the Labrador Owners website
  • Seller uses a different phone number to the one listed on the website - especially if that phone number is in one of the advert images

Although we have a number of automated systems in place to prevent scam and fraudulant adverts, these can never be 100% accurate and its important to use caution when buying online. We do not accept any responsibility for transactions between our users, especially when our safe buying advice is not followed.
