About This Dog for Adoption

Boots's ideal home

Boots is looking for a loving adult home with no visiting children. He would like to be the only dog in the home and a home without cats, small furries, or livestock. He is a high energy, fun dog looking for long walks and ball play. He is housetrained and may need reminding with positive reward training once in a new home. He is happy to travel in the car and will need to travel in the boot behind a dog-guard or in a crate. Boots will need a home with a steady, predictable routine. When he is settled and sleeping on his bed he appreciates his own space to chill. Boots is worried by strangers and will need a home with limited visitors. Boots is a bit of a ‘ladies’ man’, he seems to bond easier with females. He has a successful introduction plan to meet new people and will require his adopters to come and visit him at the centre a few times before adoption.

Could you be Boots's perfect match?

Once you have Boots as a friend you will find him to be a sweet and affectionate two-year-old Collie cross. He adores a fuss from his human pals. Boots is picky with the toys he chooses to play with, when he finds the one that he loves, usually a certain texture, squeaky ball, he loves to have a game of fetch with you. He loves his food and treats. He knows his basic training including a sit and paw. He has learnt to wear a muzzle for when out and about on walks and will require quiet, rural walks so you can both feel relaxed and take in the views. He enjoys finding new countryside scenic locations. Boots does not mind walking with some dogs and would rather keep his distance from others. He seems to prefer gentle and calm female dogs who are his size or smaller.

Labrador Puppy Buying Checklist

We highly recommend every buyer reads through the below advice when purchasing or rehoming a Labrador Retriever.

  • View the animal in the place it was born and raised - check for genuine home environments if buying privately, or the quality of the breeders set-up if applicable.
  • If viewing a puppy under 8 weeks, by law they MUST be seen with their mum.
  • Make sure the animal's old enough to be rehomed. 8 weeks should be the earliest a puppy can be rehomed.
  • By law, all dogs MUST be microchipped
  • Review and verify any documents, such as KC registration paperwork where applicable

Avoid Potential Scams

There are a number of red flags to look out for when purchasing a new puppy:

  • Seller demands a deposit without allowing you to see the dog first - never send any money before meeting the animal in person
  • Seller is reluctant to send you additional photos or videos
  • Seller offers to deliver the dog/puppy
  • Seller asks to meet in a mutual location
  • Seller uses fake or stolen photos from the internet. Always carry out a "Google image search".
  • Seller asks to immediately switch to communication off the Labrador Owners website
  • Seller uses a different phone number to the one listed on the website - especially if that phone number is in one of the advert images

Although we have a number of automated systems in place to prevent scam and fraudulant adverts, these can never be 100% accurate and its important to use caution when buying online. We do not accept any responsibility for transactions between our users, especially when our safe buying advice is not followed.
