About This Dog for Adoption
Bento's ideal home
Looking for a lively and loveable lad who will keep you company, keep you moving, and keep you laughing? Bento could be just the boy for you. This one-and-a-half-year-old Husky, German Shepherd and Labrador mix is full of charm, character, and energy. He is friendly with people, loves a fuss, and is already housetrained with a few basic commands under his belt.
Bento will need someone around most of the time to begin with, as he is not yet used to being left and can be destructive when left alone. His ideal home will be one where his leaving hours can be gradually built up over time. He may be able to live with confident children aged 12 and over who are comfortable with his size and enthusiasm. He could also live with another large, well-matched dog, pending successful introductions. Bento would love a garden where he can sniff, play and stretch his legs.
Could you be Bento's perfect match?
Bento is a friendly, food-loving boy with plenty of potential. He is still young and has not had much consistent training, so he is looking for owners who are happy to put in the time to teach him the basics – but the good news is, he is a quick learner and eager to please, especially when treats are involved! He enjoys playing with toys (although he does tend to destroy soft ones) and particularly loves a game of tug or fetch.
Bento is very affectionate once he knows you and is happy to lean in for fuss and attention. He travels in the car with a bit of encouragement, but can get a little stressed, so will benefit from some positive experiences to help build his confidence. He is not a fan of being groomed and may try to move away from brushing, so any handling should be slow and gentle. He has shown friendly behaviour around new people and even coped well at the vet with some support and a few tasty snacks.
He cannot live with cats but is more than happy to make human and dog friends, and with a little time, patience, and structure, Bento is sure to blossom into a brilliant adventure buddy and loving companion.
This dog is currently being rehomed under our Home Stay scheme. Under this scheme, the dog stays with their current owner until the point of adoption, when the ownership transfers briefly to Dogs Trust and then to the new adopters. The benefits of Home Stay for a dog are that it minimises disruption and prevents the dog having to come into kennels, however there is the potential the owner may pull out of the scheme prior to adoption. We understand the upset this may cause to potential adopters, and we work closely with the owners to minimised the likelihood of this. However, it remains a possibility, and should this occur, Dogs Trust will prioritise finding adopters an alternative dog.
