Henry
About This Dog
Henry's ideal home
Henry is a 2-year-old Labrador looking for an active, committed home where he can be part of daily life. He’s a very affectionate, people-focused boy who loves attention and enjoys being involved in whatever you’re doing. He has lived with babies, children, and adults, though his bouncy nature means he can be quite full-on and may accidentally knock into younger children when excited. Henry is very friendly with visitors and may bark at first, but quickly settles once he has greeted everyone.
Henry is a high-energy dog who thrives on outdoor activity and would suit a home that can provide plenty of exercise and stimulation. He especially enjoys beaches, open fields, running freely, fetch, and swimming. He is currently under-exercised and will need an active lifestyle to meet his needs. Busy built-up areas are not suitable for him as he can find them overwhelming and prefers quieter, more open spaces. He is generally settled in the home and enjoys routine, sleeping in a crate at night and travelling very well in the car, though he can be destructive with bedding and will need durable alternatives. He is very strong on lead.
Henry is house trained and knows basic commands, but will require ongoing training around recall and lead walking. He is not used to being left for long periods and may become vocal when separated from his people, so this will need gradual support. He can also show occasional grumpiness when moved from spaces, so adopters should be confident in managing boundaries and reading dog body language. He has lived with cats and is very good with them, and while he can be social with other dogs, he is very enthusiastic and lacks awareness of personal space, so introductions should always be carefully managed. He would probably be best suited to being the only dog in the household.
Could you be Henry's perfect match?
Henry is a loving, affectionate boy who forms strong bonds with his people and thrives when included in everyday life. He will suit an active home that can provide structure, consistency, and plenty of physical exercise alongside ongoing training and mental stimulation.
His new family should be prepared to work on recall, lead manners, settling when left, and polite social behaviour around both people and dogs. He will benefit from clear boundaries, calm leadership, and positive reinforcement training to help him reach his potential.
Henry is not a low-maintenance dog and will need time, patience, and understanding as he continues to learn. However, in the right home he will be a loyal, fun, and deeply affectionate companion who brings a huge amount of personality and joy.
