About This Dog for Adoption

Ella's ideal home

If you are looking for a gentle soul to share your days with, one-year-old Ella might just be the perfect companion. This loveable Crossbreed has had a difficult start and is still learning that the world can be a safe and happy place. She is searching for an adult-only home, or one with calm, older children (14+) who can understand that she sometimes needs a bit of space and patience, especially when it comes to handling.
Ella will need to be the only dog in the home, but she is happy to say a polite hello to other dogs out and about. She finds busy places overwhelming, so would really benefit from a quiet location and a secure garden where she can explore and relax without pressure. She must be kept on lead in public while her confidence builds, and should not be the first to greet visitors at the door — having a safe space where she can settle while people come in helps her feel more secure. She cannot live with cats or small furries.
Ella will need some support around travel and vet handling, both of which she currently finds quite stressful. However, with the right approach, she is incredibly appeasing and needs time and trust.

Could you be Ella's perfect match?

Ella is a truly affectionate and cuddly girl once she knows you. She adores nothing more than curling up close for a fuss, especially with her favourite people. While she is still building her confidence out in the world, she is very loving in familiar spaces and enjoys gentle brushing, relaxed strolls, and exploring new places as long as someone she trusts is by her side. She can be unsure about being left alone, so would really suit a home where someone is around most of the time, particularly while she settles in.
Ella has had a short stay in foster where she showed signs of wanting to be housetrained, and with consistency and kindness, this is something she will likely continue to develop in a home environment. She already knows “sit,” and walks well on lead in quiet areas, though continued positive reinforcement training will help her feel more confident around other dogs and when left.
Ella may need a little extra support to begin with, but she will repay your patience in spades with loyalty, warmth and endless cuddles. If you have a calm home, a kind heart, and a little time to spare, Ella will be your devoted companion every step of the way.

Labrador Buying Checklist

We highly recommend every buyer reads through the below advice when purchasing or rehoming a Labrador Retriever.

  • View the animal in the place it was born and raised - check for genuine home environments if buying privately, or the quality of the breeders set-up if applicable.
  • If viewing a puppy under 8 weeks, by law they MUST be seen with their mum.
  • Make sure the animal's old enough to be rehomed. 8 weeks should be the earliest a puppy can be rehomed.
  • By law, all dogs MUST be microchipped
  • Review and verify any documents, such as KC registration paperwork where applicable

Avoid Potential Scams

There are a number of red flags to look out for when purchasing a new puppy:

  • Seller demands a deposit without allowing you to see the dog first - never send any money before meeting the animal in person
  • Seller is reluctant to send you additional photos or videos
  • Seller offers to deliver the dog/puppy
  • Seller asks to meet in a mutual location
  • Seller uses fake or stolen photos from the internet. Always carry out a "Google image search".
  • Seller asks to immediately switch to communication off the Labrador Owners website
  • Seller uses a different phone number to the one listed on the website - especially if that phone number is in one of the advert images

Although we have a number of automated systems in place to prevent scam and fraudulant adverts, these can never be 100% accurate and its important to use caution when buying online. We do not accept any responsibility for transactions between our users, especially when our safe buying advice is not followed.
