About This Dog for Adoption

Ken's ideal home

Ken is a super friendly and easy-going Labrador. He came in as a stray, so we don’t have any history on him, but we would estimate him to be about ten years old. He is looking for a loving retirement home and whilst he is fine being left for short periods, he would like his new adopters to be around most of the time initially while he settles in. Ken is housetrained, but he does like to go out quite regularly so would benefit from a secure and enclosed garden. He is fine seeing other dogs whilst out and about and we think he could live with a similarly natured dog, pending a successful meet first. He does however currently have kennel cough so please bare this in mind if you have other pets. Ken has some arthritis, so he prefers shorter walks, but he does travel well so is happy to go further afield for his adventures. He also has a sore ear which may require long term medical management.

Ken is so affectionate, he absolutely loves people, and it doesn’t take long to build a bond with him once you’ve given him a treat or two! He does have a couple of medical conditions as you might expect with an older dog; we would be happy to discuss these further with any potential adopters. Ken is currently living off site in a foster home where he is absolutely adored by his carers - they tell us he is a gorgeous old soul, just looking for adopters who will give him all the love and attention he deserves! Labrador Puppy Buying Checklist

We highly recommend every buyer reads through the below advice when purchasing or rehoming a Labrador Retriever.

View the animal in the place it was born and raised - check for genuine home environments if buying privately, or the quality of the breeders set-up if applicable.
If viewing a puppy under 8 weeks, by law they MUST be seen with their mum.
Make sure the animal's old enough to be rehomed. 8 weeks should be the earliest a puppy can be rehomed.
By law, all dogs MUST be microchipped
Review and verify any documents, such as KC registration paperwork where applicable

Avoid Potential Scams

There are a number of red flags to look out for when purchasing a new puppy:

Seller demands a deposit without allowing you to see the dog first - never send any money before meeting the animal in person
Seller is reluctant to send you additional photos or videos
Seller offers to deliver the dog/puppy
Seller asks to meet in a mutual location
Seller uses fake or stolen photos from the internet. Always carry out a "Google image search".
Seller asks to immediately switch to communication off the Labrador Owners website
Seller uses a different phone number to the one listed on the website - especially if that phone number is in one of the advert images
