About This Dog for Adoption

Fable's ideal home

Fable is a beautifully fabulous Labrador who can be anxious around new people. She has already made great progress with her introductions but is looking for an adult-only home that will be keen to work on this with her. Fable can have quiet doggy walking friends. She does need to live as the only pet in the home as she has a history of resource guarding behaviours. Once she knows you Fable occasionally initiates fuss, but isn’t one that’s going to be wanting lots of hands-on attention. She is quite prone to ear infections and so might need more regular vet visits to help manage this.

Could you be Fable's perfect match?

Fable is a 4 year old Labrador who is lovely, but quite conflicted. With a hands-off approach she does amazingly and soon comes round. She’ll still appreciate a safe space to call her own though so she can really settle and feel safe. Fable has a good history of being left home alone for a few hours. This is something she’s found a bit more difficult here so she’d love this to be reintroduced slowly. Car travel is no problem for her though. She’s more than happy to jump in and has a good history travelling in the boot. Housetraining might benefit from a quick refresher, but she really tries to keep her kennel clean here so it shouldn’t take her long to pick this back up. Fable can’t wait to meet a family and show off all her tricks and training. If you think this could be you then add her as a favourite!

Labrador Buying Checklist

We highly recommend every buyer reads through the below advice when purchasing or rehoming a Labrador Retriever.

  • View the animal in the place it was born and raised - check for genuine home environments if buying privately, or the quality of the breeders set-up if applicable.
  • If viewing a puppy under 8 weeks, by law they MUST be seen with their mum.
  • Make sure the animal's old enough to be rehomed. 8 weeks should be the earliest a puppy can be rehomed.
  • By law, all dogs MUST be microchipped
  • Review and verify any documents, such as KC registration paperwork where applicable

Avoid Potential Scams

There are a number of red flags to look out for when purchasing a new puppy:

  • Seller demands a deposit without allowing you to see the dog first - never send any money before meeting the animal in person
  • Seller is reluctant to send you additional photos or videos
  • Seller offers to deliver the dog/puppy
  • Seller asks to meet in a mutual location
  • Seller uses fake or stolen photos from the internet. Always carry out a "Google image search".
  • Seller asks to immediately switch to communication off the Labrador Owners website
  • Seller uses a different phone number to the one listed on the website - especially if that phone number is in one of the advert images

Although we have a number of automated systems in place to prevent scam and fraudulant adverts, these can never be 100% accurate and its important to use caution when buying online. We do not accept any responsibility for transactions between our users, especially when our safe buying advice is not followed.
