About This Dog for Adoption

Lucy's ideal home

Lucy is a shy girl who hasn’t had the best time in life recently, having been found as a stray. Understandably she can be a bit worried around strangers. For this reason she’s looking for an adult-only home with her own garden. Lucy gets on well with other dogs and would benefit from living with one. This will help her rebuild her confidence.

Could you be Lucy's perfect match?

Lucy is a 1 yr old Labrador who was found straying. She is gorgeous inside and out, and just needs a family that will take things slowly with her so she can realise the world isn’t so scary. We don’t know anything about her past life but she has proven to be fully housetrained in kennels, and she does already know her ‘sit’ and ‘paw’. Playtime is Lucy’s favourite. She loves balls and she has recently started to love a flirt pole as well as playing in the water jets in our paddock. This gives us just a hint of the joy she’ll bring to a family once she gains confidence. Being left alone is a bit of an unknown, but we think she’ll be ok to be left for an hour or so. This can then be built up over time. We don’t know what she’s like for travel but she gives every indication that she likes the car as she jumps straight in with a little body wiggle of happiness!

Labrador Puppy Buying Checklist

We highly recommend every buyer reads through the below advice when purchasing or rehoming a Labrador Retriever.

  • View the animal in the place it was born and raised - check for genuine home environments if buying privately, or the quality of the breeders set-up if applicable.
  • If viewing a puppy under 8 weeks, by law they MUST be seen with their mum.
  • Make sure the animal's old enough to be rehomed. 8 weeks should be the earliest a puppy can be rehomed.
  • By law, all dogs MUST be microchipped
  • Review and verify any documents, such as KC registration paperwork where applicable

Avoid Potential Scams

There are a number of red flags to look out for when purchasing a new puppy:

  • Seller demands a deposit without allowing you to see the dog first - never send any money before meeting the animal in person
  • Seller is reluctant to send you additional photos or videos
  • Seller offers to deliver the dog/puppy
  • Seller asks to meet in a mutual location
  • Seller uses fake or stolen photos from the internet. Always carry out a "Google image search".
  • Seller asks to immediately switch to communication off the Labrador Owners website
  • Seller uses a different phone number to the one listed on the website - especially if that phone number is in one of the advert images

Although we have a number of automated systems in place to prevent scam and fraudulant adverts, these can never be 100% accurate and its important to use caution when buying online. We do not accept any responsibility for transactions between our users, especially when our safe buying advice is not followed.
